What can be automated
Anything repetitive with a clear set of rules. If you find yourself saying "every morning I pull prices from that site into a spreadsheet" or "at month end I merge three files into a report", that job can be written once and run on its own from then on.
We usually reach for Python here: quick to write, good with spreadsheets, and easy to run as a scheduled job on a server. The result might be a desktop tool, a web dashboard, or a service with no interface at all that simply works in the background.
